Region 15 Celebrates Our 2020 Members of Note and Golden Members

Greater NY/NJ Region 15 gathered virtually on Facebook Live on Friday, October 23 to celebrate some very special members.

Lori Britt-Horvath and Melissa Prew (Region 15’s Team Coordinator and Membership Coordinator) served as our emcees for the evening. They named our 2020 Golden Members, and were joined by representatives from each of our nineteen chapters to announce this year’s Members of Note.

Region 15 Chorus Presidents / Team Coordinators Convene for Roundtable Discussion

On Friday, August 28, Region 15 Chapter Presidents and Team Coordinators participated in a roundtable discussion "under glass." Lori Britt-Horvath (Region 15’s Management Team Coordinator) served as our moderator for the evening, and the panel consisted of chorus leaders from 18 of our 19 chapters. Region 15 Honors the Legendary Renee Craig

Thanks to those of you who joined Region 15 as we celebrated the beautiful, creative, influential, and inspirational life of Renee Craig.

We gathered virtually on Facebook Live on Friday, July 31. Lori Britt-Horvath and Jean Schoenlank (Region 15’s Team Coordinator and Education Coordinator) served as our hosts for the evening. We spoke with members of Renee Craig’s family, as well as friends from across her exceptional barbershop life -- from The Cracker Jills (Queens of Harmony 1957), the Coronet Club, Ramapo Valley Chorus (Three-time International Champions: 1979, 1986, 1990), and Sweet Adelines International.

Region 15 Celebrates SAI Member Longevity and Chorus Milestone Anniversaries

Since we couldn't be together in Albany this year to observe our usual regional contest weekend traditions, we gathered virtually on Facebook Live for our Region 15 Longevity Award Celebration. On Friday evening, June 26, we honored and recognized individual SAI members from across the region -- as well as four of our chapters celebrating milestone anniversaries this year. Congratulations to all!

Update from SAI Regarding International, Regionals, and Rising Star

Dear Sweet Adelines Member,

The news we have to share is not unexpected, but that does not make it less heart-breaking.

The 2020 Sweet Adelines International Convention & Competition in Louisville, Kentucky (USA) is cancelled. Along with the cancellation of our International Convention, the Regional Video Contest and the 2020 Rising Star Quartet Contest are also cancelled.

With COVID-19 still affecting people around the world, the International Board of Directors has made this difficult decision out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our members.

Beth Fulton Receives 2020 Harriette Walters Leadership Award

As announced on Saturday evening, during our Chorus Watch Party, BETH FULTON has been named our Harriette Walters Leadership Award Winner for 2020!

“Tireless membership advocate. Disciplined project manager. Diplomatic facilitator and decision maker. Gifted and creative communicator. Beth Fulton is ‘all in’ when it comes to strengthening the spirit of Sweet Adelines. There is seemingly no job she won't or can’t do for either her chorus, Harmony Celebration, or for Region 15!”

In Loving Memory: Renee Craig (1930 - 2020)

Region 15 celebrates the beautiful, creative, influential, and inspirational life of Renee Craig today.

She was a treasure to our region and a legend across the whole Sweet Adelines organization: Queen of Harmony with The Cracker Jills, three-time International Chorus Champion Director with Ramapo Valley, prolific composer and arranger who published some of the very first women's barbershop arrangements, member of the International Board of Directors, founder of the Coronet Club and the SAI's Arranger Education Program, and so much more.
