On Friday, August 28, Region 15 Chapter Presidents and Team Coordinators participated in a roundtable discussion "under glass." Lori Britt-Horvath (Region 15’s Management Team Coordinator) served as our moderator for the evening, and the panel consisted of chorus leaders from 18 of our 19 chapters. (Click here to see the list of participants. Golden Apple was not able to participate, due to a prior chapter committment. See below for details!)
The full regional membership was welcome to attend as our chorus leaders convened to discuss topics of interest including:
* Virtual chorus rehearsals - approaches, tools, tips, and lessons learned
* Chorus financial impacts of the pandemic - dues collection, reduction, angel funds, etc.
* Member morale and retention - keeping the connection and community strong while physically apart
* Attracting, recruiting and auditioning new members virtually
* How to move forward with creativity, resilience, and passion
* Improving membership diversity
* Logistics of singing together while social distancing

This event was planned specifically for Team Coordinators and Presidents to share ideas and learn from each other. The topics were suggested by them and the majority of discussion was done by them. We hope that everyone left the event with some new ideas for their chapters to try.
The roundtable discussion was broadcast on Facebook Live, for the benefit of the wider membership, offering everyone an insider glimpse into what choruses around the region are doing.
For those who may have missed it, the event was also recorded, and the video and is available on the Greater NY / NJ Region 15 Facebook page.
(This was the August installment in our monthly virtual events series, brought to you by your Regional Management Team.)
Carole Argulewicz, Director of Evergreen Chorus, stepped in for Kathy Dembek who had a last-minute family emerngecy.
Thank you, Carole. And best wishes, Kathy.
Carol Bellina (Golden Apple TC) could not join us for the event because the chorus was being honored by Support Connection, a non-profit organization that provides emotional, social and educational support to women, their families and friends affected by breast and ovarian cancer.
