Thank you to everyone who attended Region 15 Leadership Day with Karen Breidert on February 6. Special thanks to Karen for spending the day with us, sharing her knowledge, insights, and practical experiences. Leadership Day Zoom Meeting Link
Karen has generously shared her handouts with us, so that you can preview before Saturday, and refer to them during the event. You can access the materials in this Google Drive folder. Drive account / login not required. (There are folders for each of Karen's five sessions. There are no handouts for the Administrative Leaders session at this time, but if/as any materials become available they will be added to this folder.)

Musical Leaders (Karen Breidert): We will take a look at the specific skills involved in working on the musical product. These will include planning and executing effective and joyful chorus rehearsals and sectional rehearsals, building a musical dream team, and how to make musical progress.

Member Retention (Debra Aungst): What works to keep our members connected in these unprecedented times? Let's learn about ways to help members stay connected now, and plan for our brand new normal when we are able to be together again in person.

Administrative Leaders (Karen Breidert): We will discuss effective meetings, use of technology, meeting our members’ needs, and flexibility as we come back after the isolation period.

Member Retention (Debra Aungst): See description above. This meeting will be repeated in split session two.

All current leaders, whether musical or administrative in your choruses, and anybody who wants to be a leader – so the bottom line is: EVERYONE is invited.

We’re going to be talking about the principles of leadership, and the definition of being a leader, and especially being a leader during a pandemic.”

We’re going to talk about knowing yourself. It’s hard to be a leader of others if you don’t know yourself. So we’re going to do some self-assessment, and then we’re going to talk about knowing your people. The people that you’re here to serve.”

And then we’re going talk about building your skills. And we’ll talk about some of the skills we have in common, whether we are musical leaders or administrative leaders. But then we’re also going to have a time to spilt those up and get specific about the roles of being an administrative leader, a chapter leader, a regional management team leader; a musical leader, being a director, being a section leader – there are so many ways that we’re called upon to step up and lead our region, our chorus.

I am so excited about this day, and Jean and I have been working to plan an agenda that I think is going to be something for everybody!
