It's our birthday! Let's celebrate!
Barbershop Music Appreciation Day commemorates the founding of Sweet Adelines International on July 13, 1945.
It was was established on July 13, 2005 to honor the 60th anniversary of the day that Edna Mae Anderson founded Sweet Adelines in 1945 in Tulsa, OK.
We encourage all harmony makers to help us celebrate by getting out in your local community to share your love of barbershop music with everyone you know!

Barbershop Music Appreciation Day is July 13...Virtually!
Maybe you've heard... 2020 is the 75th anniversary of Sweet Adelines International. On July 13, 1945, our founder, Edna Mae Anderson, invited some friends to her home for barbershop singing. That meeting resulted in the formation of Sweet Adelines International, so we count that day as our organization's anniversary. In 2005, on our 60th anniversary, July 13 officially became Barbershop Music Appreciation Day. Usually, barbershoppers get together to sing in celebration, but we'll have to get a little creative this year - and if there's one thing Sweet Adelines can be, it's that! International leadership and staff are planning online activities, so watch your email for details. And however you celebrate, tag #LifeOnAHighNote, #SweetAdelinesDay, and #SweetAdelinesStrong so we can share via the Sweet Adelines social media channel.
