ALL QUARTETS, MUSICAL LEADERS, AND OTHERS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND
REGION 15’S SECOND ANNUAL QUARTET DAY – JUNE 1, 2019
On June 1, 2019 Joan Boutilier (Sound Judge, Queen of Harmony – Four Bettys, Chorus Director, and SAI President-Elect) will present a full day workshop (9:00am to 4:00pm) on the BARBERSHOP SOUND in Wood Ridge, New Jersey.
This session is open to EVERYONE – Directors, Assistant Directors, DCP candidates, registered quartets, anyone looking for a quartet, and everyone who is interested in learning more about one of the foundational pillars of our craft.
Topics will include:
* Warm-ups – individual and group warm-ups that will promote unity
* Accuracy, Breathing, Blend, Clarity, and Cone
* Fun and Productive rehearsals – coaching within the quartet or using a “5th ear”
* Expressive Singing – within your quartet’s capabilities and skill levels
* Individual Commitment – how to work between rehearsals, music selection, individual and ensemble preparation for performances
* Public Coaching – if time permits
All sessions will be INTERACTIVE and demonstration groups will be created from among the attendees.
There will be a fee (per person) and advance registration will be required to ensure that sufficient seating and materials are provided. We hope this will also allow us to offer morning coffee and lunch (details to follow).
Joan has graciously arranged her flights to allow for private coaching on Friday night and Sunday morning, in addition to Saturday night. Any quartet interested MUST BE REGISTERED for the day when requesting private coaching. (Joan’s per hour fee upon request).
Quartet Day registration information will be announced in the near future. Stay tuned!
