VocalFest will take place on Zoom (link below), and will utilize Breakout Rooms which will be accessed right from the main meeting. The event will begin promptly at 9:00am, and you can join the Zoom starting at 8:45am.

As noted on the class schedule, there are four rounds of classes (two before and two after the lunch break). In each session there will be four or five options, and you will be able to self-select your classes by choosing the numbered Breakout Room. (We’ll list the classes / rooms on-screen to guide you.)

We hope that you will plan to join us for the whole day, but you will be able to enter and leave the Zoom meeting at will. Just remember that you will need to join the main meeting first, in order to access and join sessions in the Breakout Rooms.

Virtual VocalFest 2021: Region 15 Strong!
Plus Regional Membership Drive
Saturday, September 18
9:00am - 3:00pm
All classes will take place on Zoom
Registration is FREE (Or $15 suggested donation, to help support Region 15 programming)

The day will begin with Kim Newcombe, end with Jan Carley, and be filled with class offerings from regional faculty!

Kim Newcomb * Ear & Interval Training
This class focuses on Aural Skills and Pitch Development. It serves as an introduction to tools that can be practically applied to your daily music making. We will explore exercises that develop the ear, strengthen interval recognition, sight reading, and aural memory. (For more on Kim Newcombe, see below.)

Jan Carley * Reset & Recharge
An interactive session to do a “Mental Reset and Recharge” to inspire you for the next leg of this long “Covid Triathlon.” You will learn how to take control and do a mental shift from a reactive to creative way of thinking, get tools to help stay mentally resilient, and reconnect with your unique “secret sauce” so you can keep “rising strong” in the months ahead. (For more on Jan Carley, see below.)

Sessions from Region 15 Faculty include How to Look at Music When You Don’t Read Music, Make Your Own Music Files, a tour of the new Sweet Adelines DEI Toolkit, Arranger and Director Certification Programs, as well as Director Education programming!

We are also excited to announce that VocalFest 2021 will be opened up to non-members as a Membership Drive opportunity. There will be classes geared towards singers and music educators who are new to barbershop, and the event will be promoted to singers in the communities surrounding our 19 chapters. We want to encourage folks to come and see what we are all about! We plan to have social media posts and communications that you and your chapter can share with friends, prospective members, local music educators, etc. to help spread the word.

As mentioned above, more information will be coming soon – including a detailed schedule with all class descriptions, and a registration RSVP form to give us a sense of planned attendance. Feel free to reach out with any questions in the meantime. (Email Region 15 Communications Coordinator Vicki Tisch at [email protected].)

Sincerely,

Jean Schoenlank, Region 15 Education Coordinator
Melissa Prew, Region 15 Membership Coordinator
And the rest of your Regional Management Team

Welcome, Guests!

Thank you for your interest in Region 15's VocalFest.

VocalFest is our annual education event. It is traditionally an in-person, members-only weekend in the fall. This year, we're hosting the event virtually, and would love to have you join us!

In addition to our usual programming, there will be classes for those new to barbershop, geared towards singers and music educators. We'd like to give you a taste of barbershop harmony at VocalFest, and then encourage you to visit one of our 19 choruses to learn more!

If you would like to join us, just register using the link above. We will send you the event access information before September 18.
